We celebrated the winners of the 9th edition of the Energynomics Awards Gala!

Over 120 representatives of the Romanian energy community celebrated the performance of the industry at the 9th edition of the Energynomics Awards for excellence in energy! Once again, the Energynomics communication platform provided the space and attitude to award the most deserving companies, projects and personalities of the year in energy. George Niculescu, Secretary of State, Ministry of Energy, Carolina Hidea, Economic Counsel, Embassy of the United States of America in Romania, Zoltan Nagy-Bege, Vice President of ANRE, and Cristian Nacu, Senior Country Officer Romania and Moldova, IFC World Bank, started the evening of the energy gala, held at the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Hotel in Bucharest.

This year, the jury was composed of Alexandru Pătruți, CNR-CME advisor, Ionuț Purica, IPE expert – Romanian Academy, Daniela Barbu, Director of the Energy Efficiency Directorate, Ministry of Energy, Radu Dudău, founder and director of EPG, Radu Bădiță, Director General Directorate General of Monitoring and Investigations ANRE, Mihai Drăghici, Director | Business Consulting EY, Vasile Iuga, independent expert, Valeriu Binig, Enel Romania.

The evening included an intervention of Dragoș Tuță, Founder and Executive Director of the Romanian Embassy of Sustainability.

Best Corporate Citizen – MOL Romania

In the Best Corporate Citizen category, supported by Wiren, the award was won by MOL Romania, for its extensive social responsibility programs in the fields of medical, education and environment. 8 candidates were nominated in this category, and the most votes were obtained by Oltenia Energy Distribution – Electrician Apprentice, Nuclearelectrica – proactive and transparent CSR, OMV Petrom – Romania Plants for Tomorrow, Schneider Electric – Employee Assistance Program.

Energy efficiency – Servelect

Servelect won the Energy Efficiency Award this year for the cogeneration plant built for Cemacon. In the category supported by Electroalfa, seven more candidates were nominated, of which the most votes were received by Convert, of Valmont company – Romania Cluster PV Plant, Oltenia Energy Distribution – Drone Inspection, ProCredit Bank – ProEco Credit, Transelectrica – Intelligent & passive building (pilot project).

Financing of the year / Investment of the year – Electrica SA

The Award for Financing / Investment of the year was won by Electrica SA for its external financing of over 310 million euros for investment projects in the production of electricity from renewable sources and for the modernization of the distribution network. In the category supported by RENOMIA-Gallagher, two more companies were nominated: Electroalfa, with investments of over 12 million euros in development, and Hidroelectrica, for a 1.25 billion lei credit for purchasing renewable projects.

M&A / Deal of the year – Romgaz

The Deal of the year Award, a category supported by Photomate, was obtained by Romgaz, for the acquisition of ExxonMobil’s participation in the Neptun Deep project. Electrica, Hidroelectrica and MOL Romania were among the nominated companies.

“Mihnea Constantinescu” Award for excellence in public service – Elena Popescu

The “Mihnea Constantinescu” Award for Distinguished Public Service was won this year by Elena Popescu, Director General of the Directorate General of Energy Policy within the Ministry of Energy. The Energynomics jury thus rewarded her contribution to the coordination of Romania’s energy activities, strategies and policies in relation to the European Commission partners, materialized in the NEPC approval (October 4), the negotiation of the energy section in NRRP, approved on October 28, and in the negotiation of the Restructuring Plan of CE Oltenia, a project with a major impact on the Romanian energy industry, which is still under discussion.

Best newcomer / Best turn-around – AXPO Romania

In the Best newcomer / Best turn-around of the year category, supported by ING Bank Romania, the award went to Axpo Romania, for the first virtual PPA concluded on the local market. Among the 7 nominated projects were Energy Saving – The first commercial energy comparator for household consumers, European Energy – A new entry on the Romanian market, ProCredit Bank installs charging stations for electric cars, VOLT EVSE Distribution – A new entry into the market of services for parks and photovoltaic systems.

Executive of the year Award – Cosmin Ghiță, CEO of Nuclearelectrica

The “Executive of the year” Award was won by Cosmin Ghiță, CEO of Nuclearelectrica for managerial performance embodied in a considerable number of indicators, operational and financial, as well as by strengthening the company’s international footprint. Bogdan Badea, Hidroelectrica and Liviu Rotaru, Oltenia Energy Distribution, were also nominated in this category, supported by SAS.

Outstanding Development – Tomis Team

Tomis Team won this award for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s patent for the wind farm efficiency solution. The Tomis Team method allows wind turbine performance to be improved by capturing the maximum possible wind flow and provides 25% fewer measurement errors than the other measurement methods currently used in the national and international wind industry. In this category, supported by Enevo Group, there were also nominations between Automatica, Oltenia Energy Distribution, EnergoBit Control Systems, Nova Power and Gas.

Lifetime Achievement Award – Prof. Dr. Eng. Victor Vaida

The award for Lifetime Achievement was given to Prof. Dr. Eng. Victor Vaida, for more than 50 years of activity in the energy industry. In 2021, he launched the volume “History of fossil fuel thermal power plants.” The “Lifetime Achievement” category was supported this year by CIS GAZ.

Young Energy Professional – Bogdan Leu, Transelectrica

The winner of the 2022 edition in this category is Bogdan Leu, senior engineer in the Technical, Energy Efficiency and New Technologies Department, is responsible for the DigiTEL Smart Vision Pilot project and coordinates an implementation team of about 20 people. Among the nominations in this category, supported by Phoenix Contact, were also Adrian Săcuiu and Octavian Roșca – VOLT EVSE Distribution, Costinel Gheorghe – Energy Distribution Oltenia.

Since 2013, the awards offered by Energynomics have the role of recognizing and rewarding success and good practices in the energy sector in Romania.
