Axpo – The first virtual PPA on renewables in Romania

Axpo and CEZ Romania have concluded a PPA agreement for 7.5 years for the takeover of over 4 TWh from the electricity production of CEZ’s Fântânele-Cogealac wind farm, part of the portfolio held by Macquarie Asset Management. The agreement period and the volume of energy traded place this agreement among the largest transactions on the energy market in 2021.

Axpo will cover approximately 50% of CEZ’s total installed capacity of 600 MW of the three wind farms owned and managed by a long-term infrastructure fund of Macquarie Asset Management. The units are located in Dobrogea, next to the Black Sea.

CEZ Vânzare – The first video filmed on a wind turbine

The video for the song ‘Sing with me’ was filmed in the CEZ Wind Farm with 100% green energy. “We set out to inform the young generation, together with the band Vama, about the moderate energy consumption, from 100% renewable sources. Moreover, we believe that such an action draws attention to a careful behavior with the environment”, explained the company’s representatives.

The specialists of the wind farm provided the necessary logistics to the audio-video production team so that the entire recording process would proceed safely. The initiative of the CEZ Group in Romania is part of a large project to promote and support green energy, CEZ Green Challenge. The project was initiated together with the partnership between CEZ and the Neversea festival, when the CEZ wind farm hosted, in 2019, the first DJ in the world to mix on a wind turbine. Energy Saving – The first commercial energy comparator for household consumers

The ‘Energy Saving’ platform was launched on August 15, 2021, helping more than 80,000 home consumers to make a decision to change their electricity supplier. The development pipeline involves the introduction of the switching for natural gas service starting with November 21, 2021.

With a 50% increase in month-to-month traffic, developers are constantly working to improve the on-site and off-site experience of consumers who use the services offered for free.

European Energy – A new entry into the Romanian market

The European Energy company aims to develop a portfolio of 500-1,000 MW in Romania, starting in 2022. European Energy develops, finances, constructs and operates wind and solar farms as well as large-scale PtX plants.

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, the company has a strong track record as a renewable energy operator in more than 17 countries across Europe, Brazil, USA and Australia. In 2021 European Energy will reach a new milestone crossing the line of 2 GW renewable energy capacity developed or purchased since 2004.

European Energy has more than 5 years experience in doing PPAs (from utility to corporate) and has today a team of dedicated PPA specialists. All the energy facilities that European Energy expects to divest in 2021 have long-term offtake agreements.

ProCredit Bank installs charging stations for electric cars

As part of its group strategy, ProCredit Bank Romania aims through concrete actions to reduce the impact on the environment by installing a free network of charging stations for electric cars.

ProCredit Bank together with its customers and providers of such services will install by the end of June 2022 15 new charging stations with free access for the Romanian public.

Currently, there are 2 charging stations in the ProCredit Bank branch in Constanța, and by the end of 2021, another 2 charging stations will be put into use in the Shopping City Timișoara car park (a project carried out together with EV Connect). The remaining 13 stations will be installed by the end of June 2022, in the main localities in the country, where there are branches/clients of ProCredit Bank, respectively in Bucharest, Ilfov, Iași, Constanța, Timișoara, Călărași.

Tomis Team – US patent for the wind farms’ efficiency

In early October 2021, the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted Tomis Team the patent for a technical solution that improves the performance of wind turbines. The certification is all the more valuable as the CEZ method allows to improve the performance of wind turbines by capturing the maximum possible wind flow and provides 25% fewer measurement errors than the other measurement methods currently used in the national and international wind sector.

The patent is the first international result obtained by a team of 2 Romanian specialists who cultivated their knowledge inside the know-hub that CEZ has built in the wind sector.

The application of the CEZ method reduces the energy losses caused by wind misalignment of wind turbines, on average by up to 4%, if we consider misalignment of ± 12 ° to wind. The technical solution was also sent to the European Patent Office for certification, the CEZ application being currently under analysis.

VOLT EVSE Distribution – A new entry on the services for photovoltaic parks and systems market

2020 represented the start of the new line of business within VOLT EVSE Distribution: the provision of complete services for the implementation of photovoltaic parks and systems. In less than a year, VOLT attracted 36 photovoltaic projects totaling 7.6 MWp, with delivery in 2021 and 2022, and signed partnerships with premium companies in the industry (Axitec, Krannich Solar, K2), VOLT projects benefiting from some of the most advanced technologies on the market.

The company uses a high-performance technology that reduces the implementation time of a system (K2 Dome 6 structure) and amplifies the efficiency of the system (540 Wp photovoltaic panels).
