There are 55 nuclear reactors under construction in the world

In 2018, the nuclear power generated 2,563 terawatt hours of electricity worldwide, which is up with 61 terawatt hours from a year earlier, according to the World Nuclear Association (WNA) Annual Nuclear Performance Report 2019.

At the end of 2018, the capacity of the 449 operating reactors in the world reached 397 GWe, which is 4 gigawatt more than the previous year. Nine new reactors have been commissioned with a combined capacity of 10.4 gigawatts. On the other hand, seven reactors were decommissioned last year, with a combined capacity of 5.4 GWe.

Of these, four are located in Japan and one in China. At the same time, the number of reactors under construction by the end of 2018 reaches 55, according to Novinite and investor.bg.
