Projekt Solartechnik, one of Poland’s largest renewable energy developers, has signed the sale of a portfolio of ready-built PV plants with a total capacity of almost 50 MW to KGHM Polska Miedź Group.

“We started our cooperation with KGHM with a pioneering PPA contract in the Pay-As-Produced structure for the supply of green energy from one of Projekt Solartechnik’s photovoltaic farms,” says Krzysztof Czajka, Vice President of Sales at Projekt Solartechnik. “Now our partner will become the owner of this and seven other solar power plants.”

The preliminary agreement with KGHM Polska Miedź signed on 26 September 2023 covers the sale of turnkey PV farms with a total capacity of almost 50 MW. In addition, Projekt Solartechnik will provide after-sales maintenance services for the PV farms covered by the transaction.

For KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. this is the first transaction of its kind and will ensure a significant increase in installed renewable energy capacity. “The investment, in addition to the main objective related to KGHM’s ongoing energy transformation, will also have a significant impact on the structuring of KGHM’s policy on the integration of internally developed RES assets and those acquired as part of our activity in the procurement market,” said Mateusz Wodejko, Vice President for Financial Affairs of KGHM’s Board of Directors. The acquired facilities will provide approximately 2% of the electricity demand in KGHM.

The photovoltaic farms purchased by KGHM are located in Dolnośląskie, Lódzkie, Pomorskie and Wielkopolskie voivodships.

Projekt Solartechnik has been present on the European market for over twelve years. It has built solar power plants including in England, Belgium, France, Germany, Romania and Hungary.
