PPC Blue Romania and OSCAR Downstream have signed an agreement to install 30 electric vehicle (EV) charging points at the service areas near Milcovul, on the A7 Buzău-Focșani motorway. Fourteen of these will be dedicated to electric trucks and coaches, each providing a power output of at least 350 kW.

The 16 charging points for passenger cars have already been installed by the motorway contractor and offer a power output of at least 150 kW each. PPC blue will take over their operation once the concession agreement enters into force. The charging points for heavy-duty vehicles will be installed by the company. Each of the two service areas will be able to accommodate the simultaneous charging of at least seven trucks.

The service areas are located at kilometer 131 of the motorway-on both sides of the road-and have been leased for a 30-year period by the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) S.A. to OSCAR Downstream. PPC Blue Romania joins the project as a partner for the electric mobility component: the company is financing the charging stations, handling the design and grid connection, and will carry out the installation and maintenance throughout the duration of the concession. “On the motorway, stops are brief, so charging power and speed matter most. At Milcovul, we will have high-power charging points for both passenger cars and electric trucks, all within the same service area. For transport operators transitioning to electric vehicles, this type of infrastructure must be in place before the actual need arises. We are pleased to be launching this project together with our partners, OSCAR Downstream,” stated Andreea-Dana Popescu, General Manager of PPC Blue Romania. “Together with PPC blue, we are bringing high-power electric charging to the service areas at Milcovul. On a motorway, a stop is truly useful when you can quickly find what you need; this project caters to both passenger car drivers and freight transporters traveling along the A7. For us, this is a natural step in developing service areas that meet the needs of those who use them, and our partnership with PPC blue allows us to implement this from the very start with an experienced partner in the field,” said Nicolae Bănică, CEO of OSCAR Downstream.

Through this project, PPC blue expands its motorway charging network and adds high-power charging points designed for freight transport.

In Romania, PPC blue currently operates over 1,400 charging points across all counties, with a total installed capacity exceeding 46 MW, thereby consolidating its position as one of the largest charging infrastructure operators in the country.
