We continue to present the 2018 nominations for the energynomics.ro Awards, with the Newcomer of the year category. Only one of the projects below will be rewarded during the Gala from December 5th, but all the companies nominated deserve our respect and the widest promotion. We thank all the companies and personalities involved in this effort to draw the image of the Romanian energy industry in 2018 through its achievements!

Ecovis Ciurtin & Asociații – the first consulting company focused on regulatory issues

For the courage to develop a new service – regulatory advice for active energy companies in Romania and internationally, with the ambition to turn regulation from a one-way (authority-operator) into a bottom-up component, with a permanent feed-back loop.

Benefiting from a long experience in the field of Energy Regulation, actively contributing to the most important regulatory issues of the past decade, ECA – Regulatory founders formalized the first complete solution for energy companies, a total, pro-active service. The goal is to transform regulation from a factor that can limit success into a prosperous factor.

EDPR Romania – the first energy storage station powered by renewable sources in Romania

The first energy storage facility in Romania was inaugurated on September 27 in Constanta County. The storage system, with a capacity of 1 MW, was installed in the Cobadin 1 wind farm. Through it, excess energy produced from wind sources will be stored in batteries and will be released on demand.

The investment is a premiere not only for Romania, but also for the Iberian group EDP Renewables. The research and development project is continued with a new project underway in a solar park in Dolj County.

Green Spots – Urban Solar Chargers for Mobile Devices

The team of Romanian architects Triptic Studio launched on October 25 the Green Spots project – Urban Solar Chargers for Mobile Devices. The power of the charging stations is produced by photovoltaic panels, which can feed up to 12 devices simultaneously. The built-in lithium ion battery stores energy for a total of 300 loads, and the stations can be used both day and night.

Mobile charging stations that convert solar energy into electricity are produced in a Braila factory and represent a solution for the future of sustainable technology in future smart cities. Cluj-Napoca is the first city in Romania to use Green Spots street chargers.

Haptic R&D Consulting – Smart Solar Energy Products & Services

For the introduction in Romania of new revolutionary energy products and related consultancy, including the possibility of implementing energy projects by accessing European non-reimbursable funds. Some examples are promoting and marketing innovative smart solar energy products as well as energy market research, CityHub charging station – a green power charging multifunctional station that offers economic, social and environmental benefits to future cities sustainable.

OMV Petrom – First multilateral well drilled in Romania

In August, OMV Petrom announced it has started production from a new offshore well LVO7, drilled in the Lebada Vest field. According the company, LVO7 is the first multilateral well drilled in Romania, a new technology that allows to reach different target zones within a reservoir through a single well. “Multilateral wells allow us to recover additional resources from our mature fields and to increase production, while managing costs”, said Peter Zeilinger, member of OMV Petrom Executive Board, responsible for Upstream.

The investment for drilling the well and connecting it to existing infrastructure amounts to approximatively 30 million euro. The well has two branches which were drilled, starting since February, at a length of ~3,200 meters, respectively ~2,200 meters below the seabed.

Ringhel – Software for managing power balancing

With the increase in the number of energy producers, cross-border transactions and the expansion of trading, energy balancing is becoming more and more complex. That’s why Ringhel has developed, for the first time in Romania, a suite of state-of-the-art software applications that simplify and streamline balancing management. GeFEE PRE software suite of applications consists of two platforms, desktop and web, which fully covers the activity of a PRE.

Applications aggregate the data of all partners in the PRE portfolio and the operators, ensure the closure of contour, calculate imbalances and manage the contracts and invoices issued and received in this activity, taking into account its specificities and all legislative requirements.

Since early 2018, GeFEE PRE applications have been used in real-world market conditions.
