This category highlights companies and projects that have introduced new technologies or business models to Romania, accelerating the energy transition through applied innovation and new market solutions. The 2025 nominations illustrate a wave of innovation with a direct impact on consumers, industry, and the national energy system. Only one of them will be awarded at the Gala on December 4, but they all deserve our appreciation!
ATMOCE – Market entry with integrated solar + storage systems
ATMOCE entered the Romanian market with a complete portfolio of integrated solar-plus-storage solutions for households and small C&I clients. With new technologies in microinverters, ELV batteries and intelligent energy management, the company strengthens competition in the distributed energy segment.
Enery – A platform for portfolio optimization
With the launch of Enery Portfolio Optimization (EPO), the company internalizes the full suite of operational, technical and commercial capabilities for its renewable portfolio. The platform ensures end-to-end optimisation that delivers measurable value to both investors and the energy system, redefining how renewable assets are managed.
Enexus – An integrated EPC and investor enabler
Founded in 2021, Enexus reshapes its presence in Romania’s renewable energy market. Built on 20 years of international experience at management level, the company combines engineering, investor advisory and project execution for bankable investments. In 2024, Enexus achieved tenfold growth, 250 MW contracted and €45 million in attracted investment, while launching its trading arm, Verdeo Energy. As a trusted integrator uniting investors, technology and implementation, Enexus brings speed, reliability and precision to a rapidly expanding market.
Hagag Energy – Strategic entry into Romania’s energy sector
Hagag Europe Development entered the energy sector by acquiring BTD Distribuție și Furnizare and launching the Hagag Energy division. With over 400 million euros in planned investments and 67 concession contracts, the company aims to build more than 60 new natural-gas distribution networks over the next two years — a major expansion that reshapes the competitive landscape.
OMV Petrom – The largest electric charging hub in Romania
OMV Petrom inaugurated Romania’s largest fast-charging hub on the A1 motorway, at Miercurea Sibiului: 34 high-power chargers totalling 10 MW. Serving both cars and electric trucks, the infrastructure marks a major step in the nationwide expansion of EV charging networks, aligned with the company’s 2030 strategy.
Repono AB – Entry into Romania through 202 MW / 404 MWh BESS acquisition
Repono AB entered the Romanian market with one of the largest standalone BESS acquisitions in Southeast Europe: 202 MW / 404 MWh in Argeș County. The ready-to-build asset positions Romania at the centre of a multi-GW flexibility strategy and strengthens the integration of renewables into the grid.
Skyfield Energy – Elevated urban solar infrastructure
Skyfield Energy debuts in Romania as the first large-scale developer dedicated to elevated solar infrastructure: parking lots, airports, logistics hubs and retail spaces transformed into solar carports with integrated storage, EV charging and micro-grid options. The model serves high-demand urban areas, avoids new land use and reduces grid pressure.
Softenerg – WEBUS 4 ENERGY, Romania’s autonomous grid & market platform
SOFTENERG introduces WEBUS 4 ENERGY, presented as Romania’s first fully autonomous platform combining SCADA, EMS, trading, forecasting and compliance in one ecosystem. The solution promises to eliminate imbalance costs and enable real-time, digital operation of renewable portfolios.
SolaX – Integrated clean-energy solutions
SolaX Power enters the market with a diverse portfolio: high-efficiency heat pumps, ORI battery systems of 2.5–7.7 MW for industrial applications, pre-assembled modular PV units of 500–1,000 kW and a 360 kW ultra-fast charger. The integrated offering positions SolaX as a complete provider for medium- and large-scale energy transition needs.
Waldevar – Nufărul FPV, Romania’s first large-scale floating PV project
Waldevar Energy, in partnership with Hidroelectrica, develops Nufărul FPV, Romania’s first large-scale floating solar project and one of the most ambitious in Europe. Located on Lake Ipotești, the 10 MW system merges hydropower and solar in a pioneering hybrid configuration. Awarded in July 2025 with a 14-month delivery schedule, the project will establish a national benchmark in this emerging sector.
