Hidroelectrica announced that it has awarded the contract for the Stejaru HPP modernization, worth almost 97.5 million euros, to a consortium mainly formed by Hidroserv and Electromontaj.
“The sole bidder is the hydropower services company Hidroserv, with the following subcontractors: Electromontaj Carpați, Hydropower Machinery Construction Plant, General Design Tech, Energy and Environmental Consulting Company, Hydro Proiect Invest, Electromontaj, Nibaco and ICPE Actel,” the Hidroelectrica press release states.
The Stejaru power plant, with an installed capacity of 210 MW and an average design energy of 434.5 GWh/year, is part of the hydropower development of the Bistrița River, being located on the middle course of the river, downstream of the Izvorul Muntelui reservoir, a development that represents the water source of the power plant and is equipped with: two “type G II” hydrogenerators, each of 60.14 MVA and four “type G I” hydrogenerators, each of 29.92 MVA.
The sectoral procurement was initiated through open tender, with an estimated value of EUR 97,488,599.05 excluding VAT, and the assigned value is EUR 97,486,604.81 excluding VAT, with a completion period of 66 months.
The purpose of the investment is to complete the refurbishment works of the type I hydro units (HA1÷4) in the power plant and the general installations of the power plant, to achieve the PIF reception, to amortize the invested funds and to secure the installations of the Dimitrie Leonida – Stejaru HPP.
The objectives pursued by the implementation of this project consist in completing the refurbishment works on hydro units 1-4 and on all installations in the power plant, which will lead to an increase in the productivity and operational safety of the Stejaru HPP.
At the end of 2024, Hidroelectrica commissioned HA 5, after the retrofit.
