Hidroelectrica, the largest electricity producer in Romania, has exceptional results for the first six months of the year, amid increased water flows and high electricity prices, according to e-nergia.ro.
Hidroelectrica, with the approximately 6,500 MW installed in the hydroelectric power plants it operates, produced in the first six months of the year over 10 TWh of electricity, amid increased water flows, by about 45% more than in the same period last year.
Amid the explosion of energy prices this year, the company recorded a turnover of over 3.2 billion lei in six months, 78% above the level of the first six months of last year – 1.8 billion lei.
At the same time, the EBITDA indicator (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) also increased by about 95% compared to the first six months of 2020, reaching 2.44 billion lei.
Under these conditions, Hidroelectrica achieved in the first six months of the year a net profit of about 1.69 billion lei, more than double compared to the same period in 2020. In fact, the profit for the first six months of 2021 is higher than the profit the company for the entire year 2020, of 1.45 billion lei.
