The main cause of urban fires is generated in the residential area by obsolete electrical systems, said Florin Enache, architect and president of #better association, during the webinar “Fire safety – prevention solutions”, organized by Energynomics.

“Our primary goal is to raise awareness among the general public about the risks and the solutions at hand. We talk at a lot of conferences but we still see fires and accidents happening. This means that at the level of the construction materials market, the level of design and the level of daily use are some gaps that need to be somehow covered, where we need to invest and bring the information in a simple, accessible format, specifically to the end-user “, he said.

“And if I had to say just one phrase related to fires, I would only say: The main cause of the urban fire is currently generated from the residential area. Because in the office, commercial, industrial areas, there is are business plans, while in the residential area the responsibility is diluted to the new users of the building. The main cause of urban fire is electrical in the residential area, and it is the washing machine. So, talking to the general public: “Don’t press the start button and leave home!”. Much of the existing buildings stock, especially from before the revolution, was not prepared for so many electric users. Now we’re heading, Thank goodness!, to more efficient electric users, and consumption is starting to come down, but there are many situations where you can’t turn on the washing machine, air conditioner and vacuum cleaner at the same time,” he explained.

The webinar “Fire safety – prevention solutions”, was organized by Energynomics with the support of our partners: Eaton Electric and Rockwool Romania. The #better Association was our strategic partner.
