The General Assembly of the Association of Energy and Electrical Engineers – AIEE, held on 16 April at the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, gathered 56 of the 62 members, approved the Report of the Board of Directors for the year 2023 and set the directions for the future. Twenty new members were also approved, bringing the total to 82. According to the association’s statutes, AIEE members can be individuals, professionals in the energy, electrical or related fields and who have concerns in the energy or electrical field, who recognise the status and support the work and interests of the association.

On this occasion the same management team was reconfirmed, consisting of Mircea Bițoiu – President, Virgil Popescu – Vice-President, Andreea Vlaicu – Executive Director, Răzvan Encică and Daniel Costianu – members.

In 2023, AIEE had a spectacular development, both in terms of activities, partnerships and turnover. Projects involving thousands of energy professionals and future energy professionals were carried out: energy career events, round tables, technical visits to partner companies, Eurel meetings, specialist courses and a traditional gala event dedicated to volunteers.

The Association has developed a series of partnerships with the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, with major energy companies, with professional associations in the energy industry and with specialized media publications. AIEE is a member of EUREL, the Convention of National Associations of Electrical, Electronic and Information Technology Engineers of Europe (https://www.eurel.org ). Our members have actively participated in EUREL youth project events.

“In the first two years, we have been working to strengthen the association administratively,” says Mircea Bițoiu, AIEE President, “We have developed partnerships with the main players in the energy industry: companies, media and associations. AIEE is affiliated to European associations such as EUREL and national associations such as ASRO. We have succeeded in achieving the goal we set ourselves when we were founded – to develop the Association, through our projects and the events we have successfully organised. For the future, we intend to implement new projects and to position ourselves as a professional association of specialists, which the energy industry needs. We want to create a pool of energy specialists.”

For her part, Andreea Vlaicu, AIEE Executive Director, referred to the “major interest” of authorities, companies and students in the association’s projects and events.
