The General Assembly of the EU DSO Entity, the newly formed association for the European Distribution System Operators (DSO), met today via a virtual platform and formally endorsed Mr. Vincenzo Ranieri (e-distribuzione, Italy) as the President of the Entity and the Board.

The meeting followed the first constitutive general assembly, held last June 8, where the members expressed their preferences for the Board of the Entity and approved the statutory documents as well as the annual budget. The more than 700 DSOs joining today’s meeting (directly or represented) also approved the work plan for 2021, containing the immediate operational priorities for the Entity, with the aim to ensure continuity on the relevant matters such as Cybersecurity, Flexibility and Data access where DSOs are now involved.

“I am proud to receive the trust of my fellow colleagues and humbled to serve as the first President of the EU DSO Entity that comes into existence at a time of unprecedented transformations for the energy sector and the whole society. The decarbonization and decentralization of power generation, the electrification of consumption and the digitalization of services require bold and concrete actions from Distribution System Operators in order to contribute to a fully decarbonized European society by 2050,” said Vincenzo Ranieri.

The General Assembly also approved the process for setting up the expert groups and gave a mandate to the Board for establishing a MoU with ENTSO-E, as the first in a series of constructive collaborations with other relevant bodies.
