Enery is targeting accelerated growth in Romania, with a stated goal of exceeding 1 GW of installed capacity within two and a half years. “We have dozens of employees and 200 MW in wind, PV and storage projects, and our plans are ambitious. In maximum two and a half years we will surpass 1 GW local capacity”, said Liviu Gavrilă, Head of Enery Romania, at the 11th Energy Strategy Summit, the flagship event of Energynomics.
According to Gavrilă, this target is the result of a sustained effort and a pipeline that has already been outlined: “The Gigawatt I was telling you about is almost certainly what is happening. There are some steps still to be taken, but things are the fruit of a few years behind.”
Enery acts as a one-stop-shop in Central and Eastern Europe, active in six countries and employing over 450 people. “All these 450 people act as one company in absolutely every country where Enery is present,” Gavrilă emphasized.
He explained that the company’s integrated model is aimed at comprehensive services for industrial customers, from PPA management and trading solutions to portfolio optimization: “We offer integrated solutions to industrial customers. For example, 6 of the 14 regional PPAs we have signed in Romania.”
Gavrilă insisted that the evolution of the Romanian market will follow the trajectory already visible in other European countries, for economic reasons and to comply with European requirements: “We expect an increasingly accelerated evolution towards something that we already see happening in Europe. If we don’t, it will cost us.”
But he warned about the uneven pace of local preparation and the risk of rushed approaches: “Unfortunately, what we in the local market are not learning our lesson is that we don’t take enough time to do some impact studies, to do some gradual implementations and we do everything in the 12th hour and often with a lot of tumult and associated costs.”
For Enery, expansion in Romania is not just a question of megawatts installed, but of consolidating a business model oriented towards services and collaborations: “We are playing with absolutely everyone at the moment, including those of us here on the panel. The Romanian energy ecosystem is not that big, but it is evolving, it is in transition.”
With firm plans and an integrated approach, Enery is aiming to strengthen its position on the Romanian market, poised to become one of the main players in the local energy transition.
