For the transition to green energy to be truly accelerated and sustainable, it is essential to remove bottlenecks along the entire value chain – from production to consumption – says Mihai Dârzan, founder and CEO of Procesio. “In the development of green energy, bottlenecks that occur along the entire chain, starting with the very production of energy, must be removed, and most of them are operational in nature,” he explained, at the 11th Energy Strategy Summit, the flagship event of Energynomics.
Dârzan drew attention to a recurring problem that affects all stages of the process: the absence of true digitization and the fragmentation of communication and data management. “Whatever the stage of the process, you find the same three essential elements: email, WhatsApp and Excel,” he said. This reliance on non-specialized and hard-to-integrate tools leads to slow processes, hidden costs and a lack of overall visibility.
He proposed an approach inspired by entrepreneurial thinking: reverse engineering as a diagnostic method. “The easiest way to accelerate is to ask what might be holding us back. And the answer is clear: bottlenecks. Blockages that are overwhelmingly operational.” In Dârzan’s view, these bottlenecks are caused by fragmented processes, lack of automation and insufficient integration between market participants.
Procesio offers companies in the energy industry a platform for automating and integrating operational processes, eliminating bottlenecks and reducing costs through intelligent digitalization. “We mainly work with large energy producers, not necessarily prosumers. But the area where we are starting to have a growing impact is aggregation,” Dârzan emphasized. For smaller generators and prosumers in particular, aggregation offers access to services that would otherwise be impossible or costly to operate individually – from forecasting and contract management to maximizing revenue through collective market participation.
By digitizing and automating bureaucratic and operational steps, Procesio aims to remove the frictions that slow down the entire energy ecosystem. “Our collective mindset should be: what problems do we need to unlock? Because slowly-easily, enough unblocked problems will lead to an acceleration of the pace at which things move,” concluded Mihai Dârzan.
His message is clear and pragmatic: the energy transition is not just about investing in new production capacity or storage technologies, but also about doing the groundwork to clean up the industry’s internal processes from chronic inefficiencies, turning speed of response and deployment into a real competitive advantage.
