Voltrelli has launched a new charging hub for 18 electric vehicles—a 4 million euro project that also enables the charging of zero-emission trucks and involves partners such as LG Trans, CINEA, Banca Transilvania, Promelek XXI, and ABB.
“Romania doesn’t need just another charging station; it needs infrastructure. Near Turda, that infrastructure is taking shape: an electric truck enters the hub and connects to a 400 kW charger, while 17 other vehicles can charge simultaneously around it. Yet, the real story lies behind the stations: energy produced locally, stored locally, and delivered exactly where the transport sector needs it. Not years from now, not in a PowerPoint presentation, not generated by AI on a computer, but right now, in Romania. For vehicles capable of handling such power levels, a 10-to-15-minute stop can provide enough energy to continue the journey. This is the direction in which we believe electric mobility infrastructure should be built. Not isolated stations or projects designed merely to tick boxes, but genuine energy hubs—strategically located, high-capacity facilities featuring renewable energy generation and storage,” says project coordinator Mihai Ciobanu.
Voltrelli has built a 3.5 MW charging infrastructure for electric trucks and compatible vehicles, charging power can reach 400 kW, and energy is available at a rate of 1.60 RON/kWh (VAT included), according to Transilvania Business.
Behind the charging stations, the site features eight 400 kW ABB chargers, one 360 kW station, 2 MW of photovoltaic panels, and a 4 MWh BESS (Battery Energy Storage System). This investment serves as an example of modern electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Romania.
The project integrates energy generation, storage, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure into a single energy hub. The result is an infrastructure designed to meet the needs of electric transport: locally generated and stored energy available for the simultaneous charging of multiple vehicles, including electric trucks.
Voltrelli is the brand of Smart Business & Technologies Solutions (SBTS), a company that recorded a turnover of 21 million lei last year, with a net profit of 1.3 million lei and a workforce of 16 employees.
