The proposed minister for the portfolio of Economy and Energy, Virgil Popescu, does not consider that there is a state of incompatibility if his wife is the administrator of some Petrom gas stations, as even the husband of the current prime minister, Viorica Dăncilă, is an employee of this company.

During Wednesday’s hearings of the joint parliamentary committees, Popescu was asked if he did not consider that there is a state of incompatibility between the portfolio he will lead and the fact that his wife manages Petrom petrol stations.

“I see no state of incompatibility. Given that the husband of the prime minister is also working in Petrom, I consider it a slight mischief (to be asked about this). There is no interest between managing a station and making energy policy of a country. I do not believe in things like this and please go over this topic,” said Popescu, quoted by Agerpres.

He also said that he holds OMV Petrom shares worth 2,500 lei, present in all his declarations of wealth and interests, which he will sell, so that there are no discussions on this subject. Designated Minister of Economy, Business and Energy, Virgil Popescu, received a positive opinion, after a two-hour hearing in the committees of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, according to Hotnews.ro.
