In Europe there are more than 144,000 charging points for electric cars and under 150 of them are in Romania, which has the largest subsidy for this type of cars, according to a report by ACEA. In the EU there are big differences from east to west regarding the market share of electric cars. In Romania, electric cars last year had only 0.5% of the new car market, while in the Netherlands their share was of 8%.

Officials of the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) say that these huge discrepancies are “extremely worrying”, even if, overall, market shares are increasing everywhere. “In the transition to zero-emission mobility, we must make sure that no country lags behind,” says ACEA, according to Hotnews.ro.

The electric cars had sales of 70,000 units in 2014 and reached 150,000 units last year. In the same period, gasoline car sales increased by over 3 million units, and diesel sales fell by 1.2 million. Sales of plug-in hybrids increased in five years from 32,000 units to 151,000 units annually.
