The heat increases electricity prices

The heat installed in Romania over the past few days has increased electricity consumption up to a maximum of 8,000 MW and has considerably increased the electricity prices traded on the spot market, a MWh for the first time this summer jumping to the average daily value of 300 lei.

Electricity delivered on Tuesday rose by 7.7%, reaching an average of 65 euros/ MWh or 303.16 lei/ MWh, after an advance of 86.6% the previous day. Hourly maxes have reached close to the 400 lei / MWh threshold (more precisely, 396.12 lei / MWh) for the energy supplied on Tuesday interval 16-17, according to profit.ro.

The previous record of this summer was recorded on June 27, when the average daily electricity price traded on the Day Ahead Market (DAM/ PZU) was of 265 lei/ MWh or 56.14 euro/ MWh.
