The most important thing that consumers need to know during this period is that no one is left without electricity, that they can change their supplier at any time and that contracts can be concluded until February 1 without paying universal service prices, said Silvia Vlăsceanu, executive director of the Federation of Associations of Energy Utility Companies (ACUE).

“The most important thing that consumers need to know is that the continuity of electricity supply is not endangered at any time,” she said, according to Agerpres.

Vlăsceanu explained that the liberalization of the market started several years ago and that each consumer could still conclude contracts with any licensed supplier.

“The liberalization process was completed once again, during 2018, until GEO 114/2018 appeared, which reintroduced regulated prices,” she recalled.

Liberalization means that prices will no longer be regulated and suppliers will purchase all the energy on the stock exchange.
