Russian state-owned Rosatom is able to complete the construction of the Belene nuclear plant shortly and is at the same level as other competitors to participate in the tender, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Prihodko said, according to the Russian press agency TASS, quoted by Novinite and Agerpres.

“Now we see a constructive attitude of the current Bulgarian Government, which intends to re-launch the Belene nuclear power plant project, and the Russian company is ready to take part in the tender.” The main technological equipment of the plant has already been manufactured and is in Bulgaria, Prihodko said, according to focus-energetic.ro.

The Russian official added: “All this shows that Rosatom is capable of delivering the plant in a timely manner and becoming a partner in all the operation stages of the unit.”

This year, Bulgaria plans to invite investors to bid for a 2,000-megawatt nuclear power plant at a cost capped at 10 billion euros.
