KMG International (Rompetrol) is implementing a new investment co-financed by European funds, which aims to develop the national network of electric charging stations for light and heavy vehicles. The total estimated value of the project is approximately 8,200,000 euro, of which 2,010,000 euro will be granted by the European Union. The project period is 30 months, running from June 11, 2025 to December 11, 2027.

Thus, KMG International (Rompetrol), through the member companies Rompetrol Financial Group, Rompetrol Downstream and KMG Rompetrol Development, is implementing a new strategic project for the development of electric charging infrastructure for both light vehicles (LDV) and heavy vehicles (HDV), in 26 locations in Romania.

The project is co-financed by the European Union through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, contributing to the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and to accelerating the transition to low-emission mobility.

The initiative aims to install ultra-fast charging stations, adapted to current market requirements, including for heavy transport, thus facilitating the electrification of the logistics and commercial segments. The project supports the European Union’s objectives regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the development of alternative fuel infrastructure.

By implementing this initiative, the consortium formed by Rompetrol Financial Group, Rompetrol Downstream and KMG Rompetrol Development reaffirms its commitment to developing modern infrastructure projects, with a long-term impact on the energy and mobility market in the region.

“This project reflects the Group’s strategic direction of developing electric mobility, by implementing sustainable and relevant investments in the long term. The expansion of the charging network, including for heavy-duty vehicles, represents a strategic step towards consolidating integrated solutions, adapted to the requirements of the future,” said Alua Amirova, Director of Strategy and Sustainable Development at KMG International (Rompetrol).

“The development of the electric charging infrastructure represents a natural step towards diversifying activities and adapting to developments in the mobility sector. Thus, we are expanding our service portfolio and strengthening the company’s position in the downstream segment, addressing both the current market requirements and its development directions. At the same time, we are integrating modern recharging solutions for electric vehicles, including for the commercial segment, in line with the transformations in the industry,” added Zhanibek Nugertayev, General Manager of Rompetrol Downstream.
