Registration for the BASF Innovation Hub contest begins

BASF and AHK Romania have announced the opening of the registration process for the competition for innovative solutions in the fields of clean energy, sustainable agriculture and circular economy. The BASF Innovation Hub competition takes place in 11 countries in Central and Southern Europe, including Romania. Entries can be submitted until September 15. In a first stage of the competition, the jury will choose the best idea in Romania, and in November 2021, it will be presented in the grand final BASF Innovation Hub, along with the most successful solutions from other countries.

The winner of the local competition will be awarded with 2,500 euro gross, and the best idea from the regional stage with 5,000 euro gross.

The competition is aimed at innovative companies and start-ups with up to five members, and the basic condition for participation is that the applied idea contributes directly or indirectly to the creation of solutions for clean, reliable and accessible energy and / or for a sustainable agriculture and / or to facilitate the circular economy.

The Innovation Hub competition is one of the ways to support the European Green Pact, said Andreas Lier, General Manager of BASF Romania. In his turn, the general director of AHK Romania Sebastian Metz underlines that the organization supports the EU’s approach regarding the circular economy package. “This is no coincidence, with Germany being the market leader in renewable energy technologies and a cleaner environment.”

BASF aims to combine economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility. The group’s portfolio is organized into six segments: chemicals, materials, industrial solutions, surface technologies, nutrition and health, and agricultural solutions. In 2020, BASF generated sales of 59 billion euros.
