Oradea is investing in green mobility and will develop 45 charging stations for electric vehicles, financed through the PNRR, according to Transilvania Business.

The Oradea Local Council approved, in its meeting of July 31, 2025, the technical and economic indicators for a new project dedicated to sustainable mobility: the installation of 45 charging stations for electric vehicles within the municipality. The investment is financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Component 10 – Local Fund, within Investment 1.3 regarding green transport infrastructure.

The project has a total value of 14,068,942.11 lei (VAT included), being financed as follows: 590,264 lei through non-reimbursable funds from the PNRR and 478,677 lei from the budget of the Oradea Municipality.

The implementation is managed by the Internationally Funded Projects Management Department within Oradea City Hall.

22 kW and 50 kW stations, depending on the urban area

The 45 stations will be located in several areas of the city, taking into account the capacity of the existing electricity network, in order to optimize connection costs. Each station will be equipped with two charging points, and the works also include the installations related to the connection to the network.

According to the project, 31 stations will have a power of 22 kW – suitable for residential and commercial areas and 14 stations will have a power of 50 kW – with faster charging times, strategically located in areas with intense traffic flow.

This initiative is part of Oradea’s strategy to become a city with modern and sustainable infrastructure, aligned with European emission reduction objectives. The development of the network of charging stations for electric vehicles supports both the transition to environmentally friendly urban transport and the city’s attractiveness for investments in the field of electric mobility.
