Oradea City Hall announces the start of drilling works for a 90 mln. lei geothermal project

Oradea City Hall recently announced the start of drilling works for the Nufărul geothermal project, worth 90 million lei without VAT.

“The tower of the drilling rig for the extraction of geothermal water from the deposit, equipment that will dig to a depth of approximately 2,800 meters, has been erected. The height of the spire is 46 meters” and drilling work will actually start this week ”and will last approximately 2 months, followed by another 3 months during which tests and production trials of the well will be carried out.”

“The drilling works are carried out as part of the project “Utilization of geothermal energy in association with heat pumps, for the production of thermal agent for heating and hot water in the Nufărul I – Oradea district,” announced City Hall officials.

The works are executed by SC Daflog SRL, a company specialized in the execution of deep drilling, subcontractor of the association formed by SC Elsaco Electronic SRL and SC Energomontaj SA.

The aim of the project is to increase the use of local geothermal renewable energy resources for the preparation of the heating agent and hot water for consumption, as well as the development of new thermal energy production capacities in the SACET Oradea centralized heating system, with geothermal renewable energy from the drillings of depth from the Nufărul neighborhood. Through this project, the Nufărul I neighborhood will switch to a heating and hot water preparation system based on the energy from the geothermal water extracted from the deposit located underground.

The direct beneficiaries of the investment are the approximately 13,500 residents of the Nufărul I neighborhood, respectively 6,217 apartments, public institutions and economic agents that have commercial spaces on the ground floor of the blocks in the neighborhood.

Financing is provided through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020 (POIM), Priority Axis 6 – Promoting clean energy and energy efficiency in order to support a low-carbon economy, Specific Objective 6.1. Increasing energy production from less exploited renewable resources (biomass, biogas, geothermal), production sector. The value of the works contract for the investment is of 89,930,000 lei without VAT.
