OMV Petrom will be the first energy company with an electro-mobility infrastructure present in four countries in Southeast Europe, the company announced. About 100 e-charging stations will be installed by the end of 2022, and the stations will allow fast and ultra-fast recharging of electric cars.

Thus, OMV Petrom expands the e-charging network for electric cars in Moldova and Serbia, in Petrom and OMV fuel distribution stations.

Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Serbia will be connected by the end of 2022 through a network of about 100 fast and ultra-fast charging stations. A short waiting time for recharging will encourage electro-mobility in the region. Fast charging stations ensure that 80% of the battery is recharged in about 40 minutes; for ultra-fast ones, the estimated recharge time is less than 20 minutes.

“We are expanding our electro-mobility offer in all the countries in the region where we have gas stations. Practically, by the end of 2022, about 15% of the OMV and Petrom network in the region will have recharging stations. By 2030, we will provide our customers with over 500 points with alternative solutions for mobility, respectively recharging services for electric cars, solutions based on natural gas such as LNG and CNG, as well as hydrogen,” said Radu Căprău, member of OMV Petrom Management, responsible for Downstream Oil.

Development of the recharging network in Romania and in Bulgaria

OMV Petrom was the first energy company in Romania that, in a pilot project carried out together with Electrica, installed four years ago the first fast recharging point for electric cars, in an OMV fuel distribution station.

In the last two years, OMV Petrom has entered into three partnerships with Eldrive, Enel X and Renovatio to develop a network of 80 fast and ultra-fast power stations in Romania and Bulgaria. At least 20 of these will be ultra-fast recharging stations. There are currently 19 stations in operation in Romania and Bulgaria.

Enlargement in Moldova and Serbia

OMV Petrom will expand its partnership with Renovatio in Moldova, with a minimum of 5 recharging stations with an installed capacity of 75 kW. They will be installed in Petrom gas stations in Chisinau, but also in other cities in the country.

OMV Petrom will implement in Serbia until the end of the first half of 2022, in partnership with charge & GO – a regional platform for recharging electric cars, 5 charging stations for electric vehicles in OMV filling stations, located on the highways of Serbia. Their available power will be of between 100 kW and 200 kW.
