The remuneration of OMV Petrom employees is at competitive levels for the relevant oil and gas industry and includes bonuses in a fixed amount and allowances and the same competitive level of remuneration will be maintained in the future, the company’s representatives said at the request of Agerpres.

“OMV Petrom is in the process of negotiating the Collective Labor Agreement with the representative union, the Petrom National Union. We note that the remuneration of OMV Petrom employees is at competitive levels for the relevant oil and gas industry and includes fixed amount bonuses and allowances, according to the Agreement collective labor as well as other benefits such as private insurance scheme, additional vacation days, vacation allowance, paid days off for special events, performance bonuses, etc. We will maintain the same competitive level of remuneration and in the future, an intention that we also expressed during the negotiations for the Collective Labor Agreement. We rely on the good faith of our social dialogue partners to complete the negotiations as quickly as possible, with favorable results for our employees,” said OMV Petrom representatives.

The clarifications come following the protests of the company’s employees, members of the Petrom National Union, against the “inadequate offer” formulated during the negotiations for the new Collective Labor Agreement.

“The main grievances of OMV Petrom employees include the insulting offer for the future evolution of incomes, below the inflation rate, the reduced value of the meal ticket and the decrease in compensation for treatment tickets. The protesters emphasized that this offer does not reflect their constant efforts and essential contribution to consolidating the company’s leading position in the industry, as well as the 2.5 billion lei profit recorded in the first nine months of 2023. Instead of celebrating by giving gifts to the children, the employees had to go out into the streets to draw attention on unacceptable wage conditions. OMV Petrom is urged to re-evaluate the wage offer and aim for a fair and beneficial agreement for its employees, the most important resource. Union members will continue to make their voices heard and fight for their legitimate rights in the hope of a constructive solutions,” it is mentioned in a press release of the Union.
