The Minister of Finance has warned of a significant budgetary impact should price-capping measures in the fuel market be extended.

Extending fuel price caps would result in a budgetary impact of approximately 1.6 billion lei, stated Minister of Finance Alexandru Nazare following parliamentary hearings. According to Financialintelligence, this amount would be required if the measure were extended until March.

Alexandru Nazare noted that discussions regarding the duration and final form of the price caps are a priority and must take place immediately after the Government is sworn in. The Ministry of Finance emphasized that legislative initiatives with financial implications must be integrated into the budget-drafting process to ensure funding is covered, warning that current pressures are substantial.

Regarding amendments concerning imports and refining, the Minister mentioned that these were introduced in Parliament by parliamentary groups and were not part of the original draft submitted by the Ministry of Finance.
