MOL Romania increased the sales volume in the first nine months by 16% compared to the same period last year to 433,000 tonnes, due to the expansion of the network of filling stations, announced the hungarian MOL Group on Friday. In the period from January to September of last year, MOL Romania sold 373,000 tons of fuel.

In the third quarter, retail sales of MOL Romania (including gasoline, diesel, lubricants and LPG) increased by 21% in volume to 166,000 tonnes compared to 137,000 tonnes in the same period of the previous year.

In sales structure, diesel remains dominant. Thus, the sales of diesel rose by 14% in volume in the first nine months to 309,000 tonnes, or 19% in the third quarter, to 118,000 tons. Regarding gasoline, the sales volume was 112,000 tonnes in January-September, up by 17%, while volumes in the third quarter stood at 43,000 tonnes, up 23%.

The whole MOL Group, retail sales volume rose by 10% in the first nine months to 2.9 million tonnes, due to increased demand for fuel in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. The group registered in the third quarter the best quarterly results ever, with an operating profit of $ 708 million.

MOL Group entered the Romanian market in 1995. The company expanded its network of about 200 stations gas station earlier this year as a result of an acquisition, and is one of the leading suppliers of fuels for fleet solutions, bitumen and petrochemicals.

Currently, MOL Romania and MOL Retail Comert (former Eni Romania company) operates harmonized in terms of business interests and going to merge at a later date. In addition to this acquisition, the MOL Romania network will grow organically with another 12 stations, a pace similar to that of last year. Eight new stations which will be opened this year are located in the new segments of the highway Sibiu – Nadlac as a result of the tender organized by the National Company of Motorways and National Roads.
