The Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment, Virgil Popescu, is taking an official visit to France, in order to strengthen the partnership between the two countries in the fields of economy and energy, according to a post on Facebook of the minister.

“Along with Prime Minister Ludovic Orban and my colleagues, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, the Minister of National Defense, Nicolae Ciucă, the Minister of Agriculture, Adrian Oros, I am visiting France. We will have several working discussions to strengthen the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, which provides the main coordinates of the collaboration for the next 4 years,” Popescu said.

“This document, like other documents, will be signed by the Prime Minister of France, Mr. Castex and Ludovic Orban, Prime Minister of Romania. As Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment I want to strengthen the partnership between Romania and France in the fields of Economy and Energy,” said the minister.

One week ago, Popescu said that Romania’s future nuclear projects aim at partnerships with the USA, Canada and also France.

“Romania needs investments to transform the Energy System. (…) Romania and the USA have signed an intergovernmental cooperation agreement that will contribute to the refurbishment of the Cernavoda power plant. US interest in this project is welcome because we need a mature strategic investor to help us with our projects. All this gives credibility, but also a strong political signal regarding the involvement of the Romanian government in this field. We want to make all these investments in the field of nuclear energy together with the Americans, the Canadians and the French to meet all the goals set for 2030,” said Popescu.
