Alba Green Energy Fair returns to Alba Iulia on 26-27 September, with an edition placing particular emphasis on energy communities, at a time when local generation, self-consumption and consumer participation in the energy market are becoming increasingly relevant.
Now in its 14th edition, the event, organised by the Alba Local Energy Agency in partnership with Alba County Council, will bring together at Carolina Mall solutions for renewable energy generation and storage, energy efficiency in buildings, electric mobility and technologies designed to reduce energy consumption.
The focus on energy communities sets the 2026 edition apart. Two already established and operational energy communities will be present at the fair to share their experience and show how such a model can work in practice.
The topic takes the energy transition discussion beyond the individual installation of photovoltaic panels. Energy communities can bring together citizens, companies and local authorities in arrangements involving the generation, consumption and, depending on the model, sharing of locally produced energy. For local authorities and consumers, the interest lies both in controlling costs and in making more efficient use of local energy resources.
On Saturday, 26 September, from 12:00, the organisers will dedicate a workshop to the topic. Discussions will cover the steps required to establish an energy community, the legislative framework, financing opportunities and the potential benefits for citizens and public authorities.
From photovoltaics and batteries to electric mobility
Alba Green Energy also retains the exhibition component that has shaped the event in previous editions, while expanding the range of solutions on display.
Visitors will be able to see photovoltaic technologies, energy storage systems, heat pumps, smart home solutions and high-efficiency heating systems. The simultaneous presence of generation, storage and energy management technologies reflects a visible shift in the energy market as well: solutions are increasingly being assessed as integrated systems rather than standalone equipment.
Electric mobility will once again occupy an important place at the fair. Manufacturers and specialist suppliers will present electric vehicle models, charging equipment and information on infrastructure, performance and the options available to users.
The edition also includes the Eco Inventica Salon, dedicated to Romanian innovations and patented solutions in the field of sustainable development.
The Alba Green Energy format therefore aims to bring together the general public, companies, specialists and local authorities in the same space. For the energy market, interaction between these groups is increasingly relevant at a stage when decentralised investment, energy efficiency and electrification depend more and more on decisions taken by households, companies and local communities.
The fair can be visited on Saturday, 26 September, between 10:00 and 19:00, and Sunday, 27 September, between 10:00 and 18:00, at Carolina Mall in Alba Iulia. The updated presentation programme is available on the Alba Green Energy website.
