LEKTRI.CO, one of the main players in the field of electric mobility in Romania, publishes data for July 2026 on the evolution of the electric car market. After the historical record recorded in June, the market has returned to a more balanced growth rate, but continues to confirm the high interest of consumers in electric mobility and the expansion of the offer available on the local market.
According to data centralized by LEKTRI.CO, in July 2026, 1,526 validated electric vehicles were registered, of which 1,399 were passenger cars and 127 were electric vans. Compared to the total of 44,496 registered vehicles, regardless of engine, electric vehicles represented 3.43% of the market. After the decrease of 171 EV deregistrations, the net balance of the month is 1,355 electric vehicles, equivalent to a share of 3.05% of the total relevant registrations. At the same time, the electric car fleet in Romania reached an estimated total of 73,307 active electric vehicles.
“After the peak reached in June, it was natural for the market to return to a pace closer to the average of recent months. What is important, however, is that interest in electric mobility remains constant, and the competition is becoming more balanced. We observe that the market is no longer decisively influenced by one or two models, but by increasingly complete portfolios, developed by both established manufacturers and new players. This diversification is one of the clearest signals of the maturation of the electric car market in Romania”, says Claudiu Suma, CEO of LEKTRI.CO.
Top 10 EVs registered in July 2026
Tesla maintains its leading position in July, but at lower volumes compared to the record recorded in June. Model Y occupies the first place, with 141 units registered, followed by Tesla Model 3, with 123 units.
BYD continues to consolidate its position on the Romanian market through an increasingly diversified range. Dolphin Surf climbs to third place, with 97 units, and Sealion 7 occupies fourth place, with 74 registrations. Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric completes the top five, with 53 units, marking one of the strongest developments of the month.
Hyundai Kona Electric maintains a constant presence in the top, with 46 units, followed by Mazda 6e, with 41 registrations. MG4 Electric enters the top of the models with the fastest growth, reaching 40 units, while Ford Puma Gen-E registers 38 registrations and confirms the expansion of the American manufacturer’s electric offer. BYD Atto 2 and Renault Zoe share the tenth position, with 31 units each.
The electric car fleet in Romania continues to expand
In terms of the electric car fleet estimated at July 31, 2026, Dacia maintains its leading position, with 18,611 active electric vehicles and an estimated share of 25.39%, followed by Tesla, which reaches 13,594 units and a share of 18.54%, constantly reducing the gap between the first two brands.
Volkswagen, Renault and Hyundai complete the top five positions, with 5,898 units (8.05%), 5,466 units (7.46%) and 4,588 units (6.26%), respectively.
Places 6-10 are occupied by Mercedes-Benz (3,206 units), BMW (2,814 units), Ford (2,791 units), BYD (1,966 units) and Nissan (1,436 units). BYD’s evolution remains one of the most spectacular in the market, with the manufacturer approaching the threshold of 2,000 active electric vehicles and consolidating its position in the top electric brands in Romania.
In conclusion, the data centralized by LEKTRI.CO reflects the fact that, although the pace has moderated compared to the record in June, the electric market in Romania remains on an upward path, supported simultaneously by Chinese brands, traditional European manufacturers and models already established on the local market. The evolution of July confirms that electric mobility continues to expand, even if at a pace closer to normal.
