Kronospan has decided to stop, in stages, part of its production lines, with the aim of reducing the company’s electricity consumption by up to 50%, in the context of the current situation on the Romanian energy market.

According to a company statement, the measure comes “as a responsible response” to the requests sent to industrial operators to contribute to balancing the National Energy System during the current period, marked by pressures on the production and distribution capacity of electricity.

“The shutdown of the production lines will be carried out gradually, depending on the needs of the energy system, and the company is constantly monitoring the evolution of the situation in order to be able to resume activity at normal capacity as soon as conditions allow,” the statement said.

The company emphasizes that deliveries to customers will not be affected by this measure.

Kronospan is one of the largest consumers of electricity in Romania. Part of its own consumption is covered by the production of electricity from photovoltaic panels, as well as from its own energy production through cogeneration units.

“Kronospan reaffirms its commitment to the responsible and sustainable operation of its operations in Romania and will continue to collaborate with the authorities and operators in the energy system to overcome this difficult period,” say company representatives.
