The proposed Minister of Energy, Bogdan Gruia Ivan, declared on Monday, after the hearing in the joint specialized committees, that his goal is for Black Sea gas to be used predominantly in Romania, in industry. Candidate for the position of Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, proposed by the designated Prime Minister, Adrian Veștea, received, on Monday, a favorable opinion from the specialized committees convened in Parliament.
“In the Neptun Deep project, which will extract the first molecules at the beginning of next year, we have 4 billion cubic meters managed by the Romgaz company, in which the Romanian state is the majority shareholder with 70%, and 4 billion managed by the OMV company. At the moment, ANRMPSG (National Regulatory Authority in the Mining, Petroleum and Geological Storage of Carbon Dioxide n.r), the Romanian State, through this extremely important agency, has expressed its right of pre-emption for a volume of 5 billion cubic meters, 700 million cubic meters annually. Otherwise, both Romgaz and OMV Petrom are companies that must come up with natural gas sales packages for Romania and other states, when we talk about the surplus, which comes above the consumption we have today in Romania”, said Ivan, quoted by Agerpres.
He emphasized that, once the Mintia power plant is fully operational, there will be an additional annual consumption of approximately 2.5 million cubic meters. Also, once Azomureș, which was purchased by Romgaz, is fully operational, the additional consumption will be another 1.5 billion cubic meters.
“That means we have an additional 4 billion just from the two investment objectives. My goal, as a man who loves his country and as a member of the Government, is for the Black Sea gas to be used predominantly in Romania in industry, in the petrochemical industry. And we also have some very important projects that we want to develop on the Azomureș model, so that Romanian gas can be used in Romania,” explained the proposed Minister of Energy.
He stated that his main priorities are: Neptun Deep, new storage capacities, PNRR, all the money that can come to Romania during this period, plus normative acts that must be adopted by the Romanian Government and Parliament for reforms totaling approximately 2.1 billion euro.
