ADEX Energy, a technology company for the energy industry founded in Bulgaria, announces its entry into the Romanian market by appointing Mihai-Florin Necula as Country Manager.

ADEX Energy develops end-to-end software solutions for intelligent energy management, asset automation and optimization of renewable energy and storage portfolios. The company’s platform integrates EMS, SCADA, real-time monitoring, cloud dashboards, forecasting and automated optimization in energy markets, helping producers, investors and operators increase the performance of energy assets. The company brings to the local market its own platform for the management, automation and optimization of energy assets, at a time when Romania is accelerating the development of storage projects and the integration of renewable capacities.

The entry into the local market comes at a time when Romania is becoming one of the relevant markets in South-Eastern Europe for the development of battery storage capacities, the accelerated integration of renewable energy and the increasing need for flexibility in the energy system.

ADEX Energy brings to Romania proven regional expertise, supported by over 4,000 connected renewable energy assets in South-Eastern Europe – covering solar, wind and storage – with a total managed capacity of over 5 GW, including more than 13 GWh of BESS capacities.

ADEX Energy’s expansion is supported by the strategic partnership with SUNOTEC, one of the leading European integrators of utility-scale photovoltaic projects and battery energy storage systems. SUNOTEC’s investment in ADEX Energy validates the technology, business model and growth potential of the Bulgarian technology company, in a European context in which SUNOTEC and Blackstone announced, in April 2026, a 250 million euro partnership to accelerate the expansion of renewable infrastructure.

“The Romanian energy sector is undergoing a remarkable transformation, accelerated by the development of battery energy storage systems. There could not be a more appropriate time to bring the next-generation energy management solutions developed by ADEX Energy to the local market. Market players understand today that a battery without intelligent control remains just a technical asset. Real value appears when storage is integrated, automated and optimized according to the market, grid and investor objectives. This is the expertise that ADEX Energy brings to Romania and I am happy to contribute to the company’s development in a market with such great potential for the future of energy,” says Mihai-Florin Necula, Country Manager ADEX Energy Romania.

Mihai-Florin Necula has over 17 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, with a relevant track record in developing, building and scaling multi-GW wind, solar and battery storage portfolios in Romania and Central and Eastern Europe. His operational experience and local market knowledge will support ADEX Energy’s expansion in Romania and positioning the company as a technology partner for the new stage of energy sector development.

“We are delighted to have Mihai-Florin Necula on board because he brings solid market experience and a shared vision on the opportunities that smart energy management can generate in one of the most dynamic energy markets in South-Eastern Europe,” adds Petar Nenov, Founder and CEO of ADEX Energy.

By entering the local market, ADEX Energy is banking on a clear need in the sector: the transition from simply installing storage capacities to their smart operation. Without control, automation and continuous optimization, storage remains a technical asset. With an integrated energy management platform, it can become a tool for flexibility, operational efficiency and recurring revenue for investors and operators.
