On the occasion of Oilman’s Day, the Energy Employers’ Federation (FPE) conveys its appreciation to all professionals who, through work, competence and dedication, have contributed and continue to contribute to the development of the oil and gas industry in Romania. “The energy sector needs real dialogue, better understanding and firm support from the Romanian state,” say FPE officials.
Oil has a history of almost 170 years in Romania. Over generations, the industry has been built through the expertise, innovation and experience of people who have contributed to the development of the energy sector and the Romanian economy. From engineers, geologists and researchers to operators, technicians and other specialists, their skills represent one of the important resources of the industry.
Today, the oil and natural gas sector is going through a period of transformation. New technologies, energy efficiency projects, decarbonization requirements and changes in the energy system bring new challenges. In this context, the experience accumulated by industry professionals remains essential for the future development of the sector.

In a complex regional context, the domestic energy industry is not only a pillar of the national economy, but also an essential provider of regional security and the security of supply. The energy sector’s contribution to GDP and the state budget remains vital for Romania’s financial stability and for financing major development projects. In order to fulfill this strategic role and to accelerate major investment projects, the energy sector needs real dialogue, better understanding and firm support from the Romanian state. It is crucial that the authorities prioritize: Simplifying and clarifying the legislative framework to eliminate bureaucracy and operational bottlenecks; Ensuring a predictable and investment-friendly regulatory and fiscal environment, capable of attracting and retaining capital in the country; a genuine public-private partnership focused on energy security, competitiveness and sustainability. Energy transition and national security cannot be achieved without a strong and viable industry.
