Enel X România, a subsidiary of Enel X, the advanced energy services business line of the Enel Group, has provided street energy efficiency solutions worth about 1.8 million lei to projects carried out in six counties in the country. These involved the installation or the supply of over 1,800 state-of-the-art street lighting lamps, with LED technology, ready for remote management.

The company has modernized the public lighting infrastructure on streets with a total length of over 31 kilometres in the counties of Cluj (Recea Criștur and Călărași communes) and Alba (Crăciunelu de Jos), to the benefit of 5,300 inhabitants. The works, worth over 1.3 million lei, involved the replacement of about 800 classic street lighting lamps with state-of-the-art ones, with LED technology, with an installed power of 32.1W and 51.6W, respectively. High-performance remote management systems have also been installed, which allow the remote control of the lighting infrastructure.

In addition, Enel X Romania provided over 1,000 lamps with LED technology ready for remote management, for a total value of about 0.5 million lei, to projects in counties Brașov (Bucharest-Brașov Highway, Comarnic-Brașov Sector), Dolj (Gogoșu), Alba (Valea Lungă and Bucerdea Grânoasă), Vâlcea (Costești) and Mureș (Papiu Ilarian).

“We support communities that want to cut their electricity consumption and, implicitly, their CO2 emissions, through solutions that modernize the public lighting system and that replace the existing equipment with state-of-the-art luminaires with LED technology. Thus, locality or city managers can better manage public infrastructure and make significant savings to the local budget. But the most important aspect is related to the safety of the inhabitants: the new public lighting systems make the streets safer for pedestrians and drivers, with the latter being able to anticipate the dangers in the traffic more easily,” said Dorin Petrișor Chisăliţă, Head of E-City, Enel X România.

The energy efficiency systems implemented will ensure a cut of about 50% in the electricity consumption registered by the local administrations. In addition, they increase lighting parameters, improve light quality, and offer one of the most efficient technologies in terms of environmental protection. The projects join those already implemented by Enel X Romania in the counties of Timiș, Hunedoara, Arad and Caraș-Severin, worth over 3 million lei.
