Enel Distributie Dobrogea achieved a 20 kV overhead and underground line, with a length of approximately 9.2 km, in order to modernize the MV electricity distribution network from the Danube Delta.

“Through these modernization works, Enel supports the local communities, providing a greater security in energy supply, both to the residents of the area and to more than 20,000 tourists that annually visit the biosphere reserve Danube Delta, an area found in the UNESCO natural heritage and protected by the Ramsar Convention. Also, works were carried out in order to provide a greater protection to more than 360 species of birds that inhabit this area,” it says in a statement.

The first phase of works involved the construction of 8.8 km of new line. The next stage involved a cable crossing over the Sf. Gheorghe Canal. After completion of the upgrading, the approximately 1,400 households in the area included in the program and those visiting the Danube Delta will benefit from a greater security in energy supply, says Enel.

By the end of November, the new line of medium voltage loop will take the consumers of two medium voltage overhead lines that distribute electricity to eight towns in the south of the Danube Delta, writes adevarul.ro. The estimated value of the works is about 2.1 million lei.
