In September, the company E.ON Energie România reached the threshold of 400 photovoltaic power plants built and handed over to partner companies on a turnkey basis, with the total value of the projects exceeding 75 million euros.
The photovoltaic systems were installed in the locations of E.ON partners, covering a total area of over 374,000 square meters, the equivalent of about 53 football fields, by installing approximately 187,000 photovoltaic modules.
The 400 plants total an installed capacity of 84.3 MWp and generate approximately 105 GWh of renewable electricity annually – enough to cover the annual consumption of a large city in Romania, such as Iași or Brașov. Photovoltaic systems also contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 19,000 tons annually, equivalent to the annual emissions generated by approximately 10,000 gasoline-powered cars.
“By developing customized green energy solutions, we support companies to have better control over energy costs, becoming more competitive and thus better prepared to face market changes,” said Claudia Griech, CEO of E.ON Energie Romania.
Examples of implemented projects
One of the projects was carried out for the Romanian brick manufacturer Cemacon, in the Recea industrial park (Sălaj county). Here, E.ON installed a photovoltaic system consisting of 2,176 monocrystalline photovoltaic modules on the factory roof, which generates an average of 976 MWh/year of green electricity.
For Continental Automotive Romania, in Timiș County, a system with 1,440 photovoltaic panels, with an installed power of 655 kWp, was delivered. It will produce around 715 MWh annually, contributing to reducing emissions by approximately 152 tons of CO₂.
Future plans: PPA contracts for stable long-term prices
In the coming period, E.ON Energie Romania has set itself the goal of developing further in the area of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) contracts, offering predictable, long-term prices to partner companies, the first such contract being concluded, at the beginning of this year, with the Webasto factory in Arad. Through this project, worth 1 million euros, developed, implemented, financed and operated by E.ON Energie Romania, the entire amount of renewable energy produced, of around 1,530 MWh per year, will be delivered to the Arad company over a period of 15 years, at a fixed price, adjusted annually.
E.ON Energie România will continue to support business partners to become more sustainable and bring added value to their business by reducing exposure to price volatility in the electricity market.
