The market for photovoltaic solutions for buildings and commercial spaces has enormous potential, and Wiren has signed a first financing agreement with ProCredit Bank to finance dedicated solar energy production solutions at the place of consumption, said Dor Marian, CEO of Wiren, during the ONLINE conference “Green solutions for commerce, industry and buildings”, organized by Energynomics.

“Any office building that consumes energy from the electricity grid can be a producer: office buildings, hotels, services, showrooms, schools and kindergartens, public institutions, factories. By installing photovoltaic panels, everyone has the advantage of becoming an energy producer, which allows them to consume, produce, store and deliver solar power,” says Dor Marian.

“Banks are starting to talk more and more about green finance and new efficiency projects. Last week we just signed our first strategic partnership with a first bank, ProCredit, interested to finance production at the place of consumption, through dedicated instruments. We are talking about individuals and companies. Almost any installation, from 4-5 kW up, starts to pay for itself. Invoice reductions can be used to pay installments and then even generate additional income. I am glad that the banks are more and more active in this area”, added Dor Marian.

Wiren promotes the production of solar energy, with an emphasis on energy-efficient systems. “Within the company, we want to actively contribute to the creation of a better community, which will capitalize on the potential of green energy and use the most advantageous energy systems. We believe that in the future almost any electricity consumer will have its own production”, he said.

“When we propose an insatallation capacity to a consumer, we size its installed capacity according to the real consumption and the needs of the respective location. It is important to have enough panels to cover a large part of the energy produced, trying to make consumption more efficient”.

There are three types of projects, depending on the volume of consumption – small, medium and high. While projects smaller than 100 kW do not require any authorization, those between 100 kW and 1 MW only need a building permit, and those over 1 MW need a building permit, a start-up permit and a producer’s license. The producers can amortize their costs quickly, considers Dor Marian. For a 100 kW installation, as well as for a 1MW one, the initial investment can be amortized in about 6 years, and “in the future, all generation parks will also have storage solutions.”

Even though energy prices have exploded, Wiren estimates that they will decline in the coming years. “We expect energy prices to fall. On the other hand, as part of the rapid global electrification process, investments will be needed in energy transmission and distribution systems. These will certainly come with some costs that end consumers will bear too. Although in the next 10-15 years we forecast a decrease in energy as commodity costs, on the commercial and industrial side we believe that the distribution price will be the opposite, final cost reaching  about 150 euros per MWh. We will align ourselves with what is happening in Western Europe.”
