A new Delgaz Grid project has been co-financed by European funds for an investment of over 45 million lei. The investment is co-financed by over 19 million lei from the European Regional Development Fund (2014-2020, Priority Axis 6: Promoting Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency to Support a Low Carbon Economy) and about 3.4 million lei from the national budget, while the company’s contribution is over 22 million lei.

Over 10,000 smart meters (SMART) will be installed in the project on consumers in the Nicolina II neighborhood of Iaşi, and the associated low voltage distribution network will be rehabilitated by replacing 8.8 km of cables and over 1800 electric boxes. At the same time, the hardware infrastructure and software applications needed to operate the intelligent metering system will be implemented.

Starting from 2012, Delgaz Grid has completed three projects to modernize and develop the gas and electricity distribution infrastructure with European funding, and two others are in progress.

Currently, Delgaz Grid implements a project for upgrading the transformation stations Hârlău, Pascani and Gorban (110 / 20kV) in Iaşi County; they will also be integrated into SCADA. The works, worth more than 16 million lei, will be carried out over a three-year period and aim to increase the safety integration of electricity produced from renewable sources by reducing the number of interruptions and reducing maintenance costs in the distribution network.

Delgaz Grid also has a European-funded research project “Optimizing the Costs of Intelligent Meters and Methods of Improving Profit on Electricity Transport” in Bacău County, with a total value of approximately 270,000 lei. The project aims at measuring the energy flows in the electricity distribution network, and the resulting data will lead to the detection of network losses and the prioritization of investments.

Through two projects with a value of approximately 41.3 million lei, the gas distribution system in the Iasi and Cluj counties was modernized. In Iaşi and the metropolitan area, a project with a total value of more than 6.2 million lei was carried out, aimed at the technological improvement of the medium pressure natural gas network, as well as the modernization of some control stations, by means of SCADA system. At the same time, the natural gas distribution network (pipelines and connections) was modernized in the city of Cluj-Napoca within a project worth about 35.1 million lei, co-financed with European funds.

Investments carried out by the company in the electricity distribution system were supported by another project with European financing. Up to 26 power transformation stations in the counties of Iasi, Botoșani, Bacău, Neamț, Suceava and Vaslui, with a total value of approximately 35 million lei were upgraded and integrated in the SCADA system.
