Romania has significant potential in developing biomethane projects, and dialogue with investors and companies is a necessary step to accelerate projects, said Cristian Bușoi, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Energy, on Thursday, after a meeting at the ministry headquarters with representatives of a Dutch company active in the biomethane sector.

“Romania has significant potential in developing this sector, and dialogue with investors and companies is a necessary step to accelerate projects that can contribute to the modernization of the energy system and the creation of new opportunities,” the Secretary of State said in a post on his Facebook page. He noted that, during discussions with representatives of SFP Group, he addressed the company’s development strategy and its interest in expanding investments in Romania, which is currently assessed as a market with significant potential in the field of green energy.

“We briefly presented the situation of the energy sector in Romania, our priorities in the energy transition process and the existing opportunities for the development of biomethane projects,” Bușoi emphasized.

The Secretary of State reaffirmed our country’s interest in integrating biomethane into the national energy mix, as part of efforts to diversify energy sources, reduce emissions and strengthen Romania’s energy security.
