The Palas CHP in Constanta and the Hydrocarbon CHP in Arad are connected to the National Energy System as of Friday, announced interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

“Transelectrica and Rețele Electrice România issued today the acceptance and notification of the power-on for two important projects financed through the PNRR: Palas CHP in Constanta and Hydrocarbon CHP in Arad. The two new power plants are, as of today, connected to the National Energy System, and from a financing point of view, the projects are considered completed. In the coming months, the tests and commissioning of the installations will take place, and they will operate normally from the cold season,” Bolojan wrote on Facebook, according to Agerpres.

According to him, the two state-of-the-art power plants will increase the efficiency of district heating systems and will ensure the production of electricity and heat for tens of thousands of apartments.

In Constanța, the new power plant will have a capacity of 97 MW in cogeneration, and in Arad, electricity production will reach over 30 MW, approximately three times more than before the retrofit.

“For the two cities, investments are essential for the modernization and efficiency of district heating, and for the National Energy System they represent new gas-fired production capacities, which will contribute to supporting electricity production. When local administrations treat projects seriously, when designers and builders do their job, and financing is secured, we close difficult projects on time,” Bolojan said.
