The energy sector has undergone major changes in the last year that are paving the way for new solutions and technologies that are crucial for progress. But the customer must be at the center of all concerns, said Zoltan Nagy-Bege, Vice President of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), at the Gala where the energy industry celebrated the winners of the 10th Energynomics Awards.

“We should also not overlook the fact that this crisis we have been facing for more than a year has produced some major changes. I hope there will be more changes, because crises always bring benefits, if not immediately, certainly in the medium and long term. We will certainly see some new technologies, some new alternative solutions that, under normal circumstances, we would not think of. But in these difficult times of crisis and high prices, we should keep in mind that in this energy chain, the most vulnerable is the customer and we have to find solutions first and foremost for the customer,” said Bege.

In his view, ANRE must be a referee in the energy market and be in permanent dialogue with market players and, at the same time, produce legislation to support companies in the sector.

“The energy sector is constantly changing due to market developments, not necessarily due to legislative changes. I think legislative changes should come as a result of market demand. Laws and secondary regulations should follow what the market demands, what the market needs,” added the ANRE vice-president.
