The budget provided for the photovoltaic panels of the prosumers for 2023 will increase to 3 billion lei, funds that may finance up to 150,000 projects, said the Minister of the Environment, Barna Tanczos, according to Agerpres.

According to Tanczos, in Romania there are over three million houses registered at the Cadastre Office that could benefit from such a program, the interest is very high and an increase in funds is needed to finance more requests.

“In Romania, there are over three million listed houses, single-family homes, which theoretically could need photovoltaic systems to become independent or semi-independent in terms of electricity. Last year we approved over 40,000 financing applications, the interest was huge and it is clear that we have to supplement the budget to meet the demand and the need from the citizens. To support the citizens in the installation of these electricity production systems, in 2023 we continue the program, we are now building the AFM budget (Administration Fund for the Environment – n.ed.) and we will budget for this program an amount at least four times higher than last year. (…) Three billion lei is the planned budget for photovoltaics in 2023, and we will be able to finance at least 150,000 projects, compared to 40,000”, declared the Minister of the Environment.

He mentioned that, in parallel, discussions were held with the administrative-territorial units in order to find solutions for efficiency and reduction of bureaucracy in the implementation of the program and expressed his belief that “this year the number of those who will be able to apply be of the order of hundreds of thousands”.

Tanczos also emphasized that the possibility of financing the storage capacities is also being analyzed.
