Following its entry into Romania, the energy technology company is moving into its next phase: localising its in-house platform, expanding Romanian expertise and working directly with renewable and battery-storage operators on their operational and commercial needs.

ADEX Energy is moving into the next phase of its development in Romania, with a focus on product localisation, local expertise and closer collaboration with renewable energy and battery-storage operators.

The company plans to adapt its in-house technology stack to the specific requirements of the Romanian market rather than deploy a standard regional solution. The approach combines forecasting, real-time monitoring and control, market optimisation and energy-service billing within one connected platform.

ADEX Energy outlined the next stage of its Romanian strategy during a private event in Bucharest, organised for energy-sector leaders with Energynomics as media partner. The discussions brought together professionals from across the market to explore the operational and commercial challenges emerging as renewable generation, battery storage, trading and digital energy management become increasingly interconnected.

For Peter Nenov, Founder of ADEX Energy, the Romanian market now requires a shift from establishing presence to building practical market relevance.

“We are moving from market entry to market execution. Romania has a strong runway for renewables and battery storage, but technology creates value only when it solves real operational and commercial problems. Our priority now is to get closer to the market, listen to the use cases and pain points, and put our technology and experience to work where they can make a measurable difference. We want to scale with the market, not simply sell into it,” said Peter Nenov, Founder of ADEX Energy.

ADEX Energy reports that its platform currently supports more than 4,000 renewable energy sites, 3.2 GW of battery energy storage systems and an overall portfolio of more than 7 GW. Experience across projects with different equipment, technologies and operating requirements has shaped an integrated approach that connects the physical operation of energy assets with market and commercial processes.

The company’s product suite includes ADEX IoT, ADEX Cast and ADEX Sales, covering monitoring and control, forecasting, optimisation and commercial energy management.

In Romania, ADEX Energy intends to build local expertise alongside its technology offering. The company plans to hire Romanian specialists, work directly with market participants and continuously adapt its products to the operational, regulatory and commercial realities of the local energy sector.

“We don’t want ADEX Romania to become a sales outpost for a product built somewhere else. The ambition is to create a genuinely local operating model: Romanian expertise, Romanian market know-how and a product that evolves around the needs we see here. Because the technology stack is developed in-house, we can move quickly from client pain point to working solution. That product-market fit is where I see our real competitive edge,” said Mihai Necula, Country Manager, ADEX Energy Romania.

Necula also pointed to a change in the broader Romanian market, where renewable development, storage, trading, digitalisation and demand for flexibility are increasingly starting to converge.

“For years, Romania had enormous energy potential, but many pieces of the puzzle were moving separately. Now they are starting to come together. I believe Romania has the opportunity to become the premier energy market in Eastern Europe. The next phase, however, is all about execution,” he added.

The localisation strategy is particularly relevant for renewable and battery-storage portfolios. As assets become more complex and market exposure increases, operators need to coordinate physical performance, forecasting, dispatch, trading and commercial decisions more closely.

For ADEX Energy, the next stage in Romania will therefore be built around three priorities: local market knowledge, product localisation and long-term client partnerships.
