Virgil Popescu: There are no problems with fuel stocks

Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, announced on Thursday that there are no problems with the fuel stocks, after the working meeting he had with representatives of the Rompetrol.

OMV Petrom increased diesel production and tripled kerosene production to cover the market deficit after the closure of the Petromidia refinery. The Petromidia refinery, the largest in Romania, has been closed for almost a month, following an explosion.

“There are no problems with fuel stocks, it is one of the conclusions of the working meeting we had today with Rompetrol, which was attended by Beimbet Shayakhmetov – CEO, Iskander Abdibaitov – Chief Corporate Development Officer, Askar Abilov – Group CFO, Claudiu Contanu – Chief Trading for the stock part and Boris Bucur (GM RP Energy),” mentioned the Minister of Energy on his Facebook page, according to Agerpres.

He stressed that he had a very good dialogue regarding the stage of investments that the Kazakh-Romanian Energy Investment Fund has to make.

The project of the new cogeneration plant from Petromidia is on schedule and will be completed in August 2023. As for the rest of the projects, we will have discussions so that the investments can be integrated in the national decarbonization plan. The discussions were also attended by the Secretary of State Dan Dragan and Bogdan Stanescu – SAPE,” the minister also wrote on the social network.

An explosion followed by a fire occurred on July 2 at Petromidia, and the refinery, the largest in the country, was closed.
