Virgil Popescu discussed, in Korea, about cooperation in the Romanian nuclear program

The Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, discussed, in the Republic of Korea, cooperation in order to develop the Romanian nuclear program, in the construction of Units 3 and 4 at Cernavoda, but also in the SMR project, according to a post on his Facebook page.

“As part of the delegation led by Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, I am these days on an official visit to the Republic of Korea. Today I had a working meeting with the representatives of K-EXIM Bank, at which they attended by George Agafiței, State Councilor and Cosmin Ghiță, General Director of SN Nuclearelectrica SA. We discussed about cooperation in order to develop the Romanian nuclear program, in the construction of Units 3 and 4 at Cernavodă, but also in the SMRs project. I also sent the invitation to get involved in the project of re-technologically upgrading Unit 1 from Cernavodă and the detrition facility, where the technology developed at ICSI Râmnicu Vâlcea will be used,” the minister wrote.

He stated that he received positive signals and desire to be involved in these important investments.

“We conveyed that through collaboration we will succeed in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two states,” Popescu also noted.

The Minister of Energy is on an official visit to the Republic of Korea, together with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Sorin Grindeanu, the Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization, Sebastian Burduja, the Minister of Economy, Florin Spătaru, the Minister of National Defense, Anghel Tîlvăr, and other parliamentary colleagues.
