Hidroelectrica has awarded the contract for the maintenance services of the Crucea Nord Wind Farm wind turbines, following the completion of the sectoral procurement procedural stages.
The services, worth 99,782,280 lei, excluding VAT, are to be performed by Vestas CEU România SRL. The contract, which will be carried out over a period of 5 years, aims to guarantee the availability of the Vestas model V112 – 3MW MK1a wind turbines, as well as the SCADA, PPC and AEOS systems. Predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance activities, remote monitoring of the turbines’ operation, delivery and installation of spare parts, as well as the provision of equipment, consumables and specialized personnel are also foreseen.
Through this partnership, Hidroelectrica aims to ensure efficient and safe operation of the wind farm installations, complementing its own activities with the expertise of one of the largest global providers of wind energy solutions.

“We do not hesitate to invest. We want to add the storage part with Li-ion technology batteries to Crucea Nord. The nominal power of this installation will be 36 MW, with a storage capacity of 72 MWh. These are concrete steps that we are taking towards hybridization and production optimization, steps that we are taking simultaneously with the consolidation of existing assets by ensuring the maintenance and availability of the aggregates,” said Bogdan Badea.
In 2013, Vestas Wind Systems won a 108 MW order from the German STEAG GmbH group to supply turbines to the Crucea Nord wind farm in Dobrogea. The contract also included a ten-year service agreement. The Crucea wind farm, with an installed capacity of 108 MW, was acquired by Hidroelectrica in 2021 and was the first M&A transaction carried out in Romania by a state-owned company. In April 2025, Hidroelectrica signed with the Romanian manufacturer Prime Batteries Technology and Enevo a contract worth 80 million lei for the storage facility of the Crucea Nord Wind Farm.
