OMV Petrom Group takes into account market realities and will direct its investment strategy more towards priority projects and closer technologically to the current transition period, such as Neptun Deep or the E&P segment, Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom, explained to journalists. In turn, Cristian Hubati, member of the Directorate responsible for Exploration and Production, answered a question from Energynomics related to the 11th Round of bidding for perimeters that OMV Petrom is very attentive to its evolution:

“We observe the process and, of course, we will react depending on its progress. So far, the process has not started, there is no public bidding,” he said.

At the same time, investments are increasing.

“In 2025, we invested almost 8 billion lei. In 2026, we expect this amount to reach 9 billion lei. So, as I have always said, these are some of the most intense investment periods. What we have announced, in fact, today, is that the 11 billion euros dedicated to investments that we announced for the period 2022 – 2030 – this amount is unchanged. But we are looking at how the pace of different technologies evolves, especially in the energy transition, and this leads to a change in some of the capital allocation. So, we will reduce our 35% allocation of capital to low-emission and zero-carbon segments to 25%. Please note that the big projects that I have always mentioned… all continue according to plan,” Verchere said, explaining that exploration and production (E&P) and gas in the Black Sea are now in the spotlight.

“What I would like to emphasize is that in the energy transition, there will be things that will go faster and there will be things that will go slower, if you remember, in 2021 our renewable energy target was 1GW. Today it is more than 2.5 GW. The energy transition trajectory remains clear for us and we all have optionality, as different technologies develop.”

The Neptun Deep project is progressing, with first gas production expected in 2027, she added.

“The Neptun Deep project is progressing, with first gas production expected in 2027. We have drilled four wells on the Pelican South field and completed the microtunnel in Tuzla. The construction of the gas metering station is in full swing. In parallel, the fabrication of the production platform is progressing, with the jacket in Italy and the topside in Indonesia,” added Christina Verchere.
