UTI: Contract of 12 mln. euro for the extension and modernization of the electrified transport from Târgu Jiu

UTI Construction and Facility Management, as the leader of an association which also includes TIAB, Urban Profile Grele şi Altimate, signed a contract with Târgu Jiu City Hall for the extension and modernization of the public transport system (trolleybuses) in this city. The project, whose value is over 12 million euro, was awarded following a public tender, and the financing will be made from European funds, through the POR program, the company announced.

According to the contract, works will be carried out to rehabilitate the entire public transport system: replacement and extension of the electrical contact network for the means of transport in traffic and on the premises (tens of kilometers of electric traction cables), installation of power cables in direct current, equipping three traction electrical substations with modern systems. The premises of the company that manages the local public transport will also be modernized.

UTI Construction and Facility Management will execute the electrical, sanitary and thermal installations.

The project also provides for the construction of civil and architectural works.

In order to increase the mobility and attractiveness of public transport, the project will modernize the waiting stations for passengers, and the Altimate company will install in the trolleybuses an e-Ticketing charging system, based on contactless cards. It is easy to use for people of all ages, is practical and allows the company that manages public transport to reduce fraud.

All the actions provided for in the contract have as their main objective the reduction of carbon emissions from Tg. Jiu and the improvement of the quality of the air that the inhabitants breathe and their life. The local authorities aim to reduce the number of buses and, implicitly, the fuel consumption, which will generate a low specific energy consumption, as well as increase the quality of services for citizens, their comfort and safety, the company also announced.

UTI Construction and Facility Management and Altimate are currently carrying out a similar project in Mediaș, carrying out similar works to modernize the ecological transport of this city.
